My names Coltt Lepley, and I,m from Bedford, PA. I am 20 years old and attending the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, studying Marketing in Communications. I started out working in the pits at Bedford speedway on the back of tow trucks, hoping one day I’d to get to race something. I just loved being around it. I started my racing career at 11 years old, racing at Cove Valley Speedway, then branching out racing and winning at different tracks, with 2 Cove Valley championships, and over 60 heat and feature wins at 5 different tracks. I ended my kart career as the house driver for Curry Dynamics and the Bechtel Family, racking up 8 feature wins at two different tracks in our time together.
Last year, we decided to make the jump to 305 sprint cars, this area is more of a late model region, but with a lot of young talent coming up, there’s more Sprint Car teams than late model teams in Bedford County now. I think it’s cool that the 814 is showing some muscle as sprint car country. Everyone with a wing usually comes from the 717 area code.
Anyway, we run a Maxim powered by Hershey’s Racing Engines. My mom and dad are the one’s that really pushed me to move up, and I’m glad they were willing to take the jump with me. We got a decent amount of sponsor help in our first year, and I want to thank REF Trucking, Baker’s Body Center, Lepley’s Plumbing, Heating, AC and Electrical, Hoss’s Family Steak and Sea House of Bedford, KASE Beverage, Berkebile Oil Company, Best Way Pizza of Bedford, Howard Hannah/Bardell Realty of Bedford, Valley Auto Corvette Sales, Designing Images, Castrol, Wes4 Customs, and Stacey Lepley Photography.
With the help of Ritchey Racing, and the 880 crew, we got our feet under us, along with help from the number of people from my crew that helped us out, we look forward to a transitional year of steady improvement and learning. The Bedford test and tune showed good speed, and look for us to be a factor around the end of June. We will be competing in both traveling series of the PA Sprint Series, and the Laurel Highlands Sprint Car Series, both under the RACESAVER 305 banner.
