K-Mart announced Friday that it has been the latest victim of a credit card breach. If you have shopped at stores from September to October 9th, you will want to keep a very close eye on your credit or debit card statements. K-Mart will be offering free credit monitoring for those affected. Malware was maliciously installed on the systems that enabled hackers to steal card numbers as customers pay for their purchases. This comes after Dairy Queen, Home Depot, and many other similar attacks. For more information on how to protect yourself from credit card fraud, here is a good article from the Cove’s “Cyber Protection Group”.
